Desde su fundación en 1994, el Cuarteto Sarastro siempre logra realizar nuevas experiencias personales en sus conciertos. Considerando importante para este objetivo también la selección de un lugar de concierto, cuyo ambiente facilite el contacto entre los intérpretes y público, el conjunto inició su proprio festivál, los Días de la Música de Cámara Suiza, en la sala principal del Castillo de Lenzburg. El enfoque de la programación está aquí en la música de cámara suiza de los últimos cien años, pero también se presentan regularmente compositores suizos contemporáneos, dándoles una reverencia especial con estrenos o re-estrenos de sus obras.

El Cuarteto Sarastro desarrolló una afinidad especial con respecto a la selección y al descubrimiento de obras menos conocidas de los siglos XIX y XX. En 2007, tocó por la primera vez en Argentina, después de publicar un CD con los cuartetos inmerecidamente olvidados del compositor argentino Constantino Gaito. Fué invitado al 39° Festival Encuentros y a una gira organizada por Mozarteum Argentino.
Las grabaciónes tempranas para el sello suizo “pan classics” ya documentan la alta calidad del conjunto. También la exploración discográfica de las obras del famoso director de orquesta suizo-austriaco Felix Weingartner recibe críticas excelentes.

With the SARASTRO QUARTET’s reliable talent for programming, the Winterthur ensemble continually create completely new listening experiences for their audiences. An essential element in creating such experiences is the choice of concert venues that promote a close relationship between the performers and the audience. With this in mind the SARASTRO QUARTET initiated the Concert Series „ Swiss Chamber Music Castle Lenzburg“ in the Knight’s Hall of the Castle Lenzburg. Here the quartet performs works primarily by swiss composers, including many world premiers, from musicians such as Eric Gaudibert, Roland Moser and Fabian Müller.

The SARASTRO QUARTET has developed a special affinity with some less well-known composers of the 19th and 20th Centuries. On a tour to Argentina in 2007, the ensemble performed the unjustly forgotten string quartets by the Argentinian composer Constantino Gaito. The concerts and the „world premier recording“ of the works were enthusiastically received by audiences and critics alike.
Already the CD recordings by Pan Classics testify to the high quality of the SARASTRO QUARTET. The first recordings of works by Felix Weingartner, a composer long active in Basel, have also been highly regarded by critics.
